Things have changed in my personal life, and to be honest there was not much to blog about (not that I have a huge blog following anyway lol). I will be back to posting soon. Have some reviews typed up on some lenses, and on some non-lens related items...still working on how to transfer photos from my iPhone to my MAC so I can upload them....If anyone knows how feel free to let me know! lolGregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622693326651830971.post-625626131593796312014-02-20T19:31:00.001-08:002014-02-20T19:31:46.378-08:00DesioHey there, long time no blog :/. Sorry for the long hiatus. Over the past year I've had some changes go in in my life, including a career change among them. I have been unable to blog due to sometime as a result of them. That and quite frankly I haven't really been wearing or trying nay new lenses. Well some months back I came across a brand called Desio.

Desio is a cosmetic lens made it Italy, that is not only aimed at changing the wearers eye color, but also a brand that markets their lenses towards both Women and Men. The lenses appear to be opaque printing with the blending of a semi opaque lens. I will be honest, I am a bit on the fence about these. I have stumbled across pics on their Instagram page and took a look at their site to see what they offered.

The company does offer the lenses in a wide range of corrective powers from Plano (+/- 0.00) to +5.00/-17.00. (Side note any lens from +5.00 to -6.00 is available in .35 increments at the regular price, while lenses stronger than -6.00 are available in .50 increments, although appearing to be at the same price range).

The color range is as follows:

Innocent White,Smokey Grey & Icy Blue (Grey/Blue tones)
Creamy Beige, Desert Dream, and Caramel Dream (Brown tones)
Mint Touch & Forest Green (Green tones)

The shade I ordered was Icy Blue

(Stock photo from manufacturer website)

The lens itself appears to be available in some countries around the world at optical shops, as well as stand alone shops. At this point and time they can be ordered directly from the manufacturer (Qualimed) through their website www.DesioLens.com .

I am interested in trying them out an doing a review on them once I receive them. So for the mean time stay tuned :) And happy belated New Years! LOL

**Disclaimer** I am not associated with Qualimed, Desio, DesioLens, com . I have not been paid or compensated for this review/post. Nor am I being provided with the aforementioned lenses. I have purchased them with my own money and any opinions associated with them upon receiving and reviewing them are mine and mine alone.

Gregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622693326651830971.post-12116231118671246722013-07-11T15:34:00.000-07:002013-07-11T15:34:04.320-07:00Que the RANDOM email Q&ASo, while I have not had time to edit and post the pics of the lenses I've recently gotten, I have had time to go through my emails. For some reason people feel the urge to anonymously email my questions associated with the lenses I have reviewed on my blog (and lenses I haven't). I also have the repeated random questions that pop up on some of my posts so I figured I'd give em all a quick answer here in sort of a facts word vomit of sorts :/. Here goes my attempt:

HOW LONG DO YOU WEAR YOUR FRESHLOOK FOR?:

This is a vague one I get often. In general I wear my FreshLook lenses (as well as pretty much every other pair I own) for 10-12 hours a day. My FreshLook lenses in particular I wear for a month/30 wears before I dispose of them. I do urge any who opt to wear them to follow their eye doctors wear and disposal schedule recommended for them. They are designed/marketed to be a 2 week daily wear disposable lens. My particular wear schedule is a monthly daily disposable cycle with this brand. (Basically I'm instructed to remove them after 10-12 hours and disinfect them overnight and replace them every month/every 30 wears). This fit is based on me as an individual so I can't say if it is best for anyone else or not.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WEARING COLORED CONTACTS?:

I have been wearing colored contacts on a daily basis for 16 years.

WHY DO YOU WEAR COLORED CONTACTS?:

When I first got contact lenses in general my eye doctors office was having a promotion. If you purchased Wesley Jessen lenses, the cosmetic lenses were the same cost as the regular lenses with a handling tint if you bought a year supply. My parents decided I should get the colored lenses (FreshLook Colors at the time) because I would be getting a "better" lens for the same price.

WHY DO YOU SEEM TO WEAR SO MANY BLUE LENSES?:

When I started wearing lenses I got 3 boxes of blue (FreshLook Colors Blue) and 1 box of green (FreshLook Colors Green). I didn't have a particular preference, but when people noticed I wasn't wearing glasses and got contacts they seemed to "realize" how "blue" my eyes actually were. Most people didn't wear contacts back then, and colored contacts weren't widely available so I went with it. It has since become my go to color. That and I REALLY like the color blue...LOL

HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR LENSES?:

This really depends on the lenses. With my circle lenses it really depends on what they're going for online at the time. As for my regular lenses from my eye doctors office, I usually go with FreshLook because after insurance they cost me $20 USD give or take after my insurance.

THEY SELL (INSERT RANDOM BRAND) LENSES AT MY LOCAL BEAUTY SUPPLY STORE, CAN YOU REVIEW THEM?:

I occasionally purchase a pair of lenses I come across if the pattern or color intrigues me. That aside I don't really do that often because I require prescription lenses. In the past I would but it's just not cost effective to constantly purchase lenses to review that are of no use to me beyond that.

WHY DO YOU WEAR CIRCLE LENSES? CAN'T YOU GO BLIND?

I wear circle lenses on occasion because sometimes I want to step away from my normal look. Could you go blind? Yes it's a possibility...However, you could go blind from wearing standard contact lenses that offer no cosmetic change as well. While cosmetic lenses are designed to meet a superficial need, at the end of the day they are still a medical device. Like any other they should be used responsibly. Ensure you clean your lenses properly, you handle them properly, inspect them for any defects, and maintain a realistic wearing schedule.

CAN I JUST BUY A PAIR IN A LOCAL STORE? OR DO I HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE SPECIFIC?

You can just buy a pair in a local store. Just like eye doctors offices and online sellers the selection and choices available will vary based on what is available to them. Again I urge you to wear them responsibly if doing so. They can be a great, fun way to subtly change your looks without doing anything drastic or having any long term commitment. I do also urge you to have a proper eye exam and fitting. Even if you choose not to purchase lenses from the eye doctors office, it is always good to know the current health of your eyes, and what lenses you should avoid.

CAN GUY'S WEAR COLORED CONTACTS?IF A GUY WEAR'S COLORED CONTACTS DOES IT MAKE HIM GAY?

I'm throwing both of these in one. Yes, clearly men can wear colored contacts. While they are labeled as "cosmetic" they are NOT gender specific. Sure maybe a guy wouldn't feel comfortable wearing certain types of colored contacts, but because they're a guy doesn't mean they can't. Many do, most just aren't open about it.
If a guy is a gay male he is a gay male. Colored contacts have nothing to do with, nor are they an indicator of any individuals gender identity or sexual orientation. RELAX they're just contacts. If you wanna wear them, wear them. If you don't, don't. Just don't let what other people think of you shape your stance on the matter. As for me, no fucks are given. If they have an opinion on you wearing them if you're a guy, feel free to pull out your monthly bills and ask them which one they would like to pay.

MY FRIEND HAS COLORED CONTACTS. CAN I JUST TRY THEIRS OUT?

No. While in theory you can put them on, you shouldn't. Everyone's eyes are unique. This includes fluid such as tears and any other secretions their eyes produce. Contact lenses, even if cosmetic are medical devices that come into direct contact with an organ. They're not a t-shirt or a pair of shoes. If you wanna try em you gotta buy em.

I HAVE DARK BROWN EYES, HOW COME (INSERT LENS NAME) DOESN'T LOOK THE SAME AS IT DID ON YOU?

To be blunt, I don't have dark brown eyes. I have brown eyes, but they are light brown. Closer to an amber/honey shade to be exact. The same way I can't use how a pair of contacts looks on someone with blue eyes, or green eyes,or grey eyes, or hazel eyes, you can't use how a contact looks on my eyes as an exact indicator of the result you will achieve. For the same reason there are lenses that look fantastic on dark brown eyes (such as the various brown/chocolatey circle lenses) that look down right alienish on my eyes. They're not the same. While I can write a review based on my experience and post pictures to give an idea about them, I can't, nor do I want to make my eyes dark brown so you know exactly how they will look on you.

CAN YOU DO A REVIEW ON (INSERT LENS NAME) FOR ME?

Can you give me the money for them or send me a pair? If so than yes, if not than no. I don't mind doing reviews on lenses I have in my possesion already, or lenses I have recently purchased. That being stated I am not a blogger or youtube vlogger who has companies offering to sponser them lenses in exchange for a review. (Not saying I would turn it down LOL). As my reviews specify, all of the lenses are purchased with my own money. I don't have a sponsership nor am I gifted lenses from distributers or manufacturers. While I would LOVE to review MANY lenses I come across all the time, I have bills to pay. Since blogger ain't paying them and since I'm not being sponsered them you'll just have to check in and see if the lens you've been debating ends up as a future purchase of mine.

CAN YOU REVIEW SOLOTICA ON YOUR BLOG?

People still wear these? LOL J/K! I actually DO have a few pairs of Solotica lenses. Specifically NC Verde Marine, and Hidrocor in Ice and Ocre. That being said I may just do a review on them, but I have avoided doinng so for so long because, well.....I try to be a positive person ;)

DO YOU HAVE ANY LENSES BESIDES FRESHLOOK YOU CAN REVIEW? MY EYE DOCTOR CARRIES THEM BUT THEY CARRY A FEW OTHER BRANDS I THINK WOULD BE BETTER.

I can do some lens reviews of commonly available lenses most eye doctors carry. I have Acuvue 2 Colors and Expressions Colors in various shades. I plan on having some reviews of those up soon.

ARE THERE ANY NEW REALISTIC LENSES OUT?

New lenses come out ALL the time as far as circle lenses are concerned. As for your commercial lenses that are aimed at creating a more "realistic" result, most of those companies are stagnant in their designs and options. There are a few new brands such as Desio I've been eyeing for sometime, but I have alot of lenses now, and as I said before, my lenses aren't sponsered so it may be some time before I get a pair of those to test out.

That's the just of it for now. Any other questions? While you can shoot me an email you'll find I'll get a chance to reply much easier if you ask it here!

Have a great day everyone!
Where has the time gone??Hello out there blog readers! LOL (I say that as though there are thousands of you following me :/) I'm so sorry for the lack of updates :( I have been responding to comments as they have come. Haven't had a chance to actually write up a full review and post up pictures lately...(By lately I mean almost a year) Part of the reasoning is, I haven't really been wearing any new lenses as of late. The other reason is I can't find my camera cord....LOL Yes as random as that sounds I can't find it! I've been doing some renovations to my house over the last year, and during that time frame I seem to have misplaced it...I probably would have gotten a new cord sooner, however I rarely used my camera to begin with :/ Aside from taking pics for my blog I generally use my iPhone to take actual pics when I want/need to...LOL....I have gotten a few new pairs of lenses recently that I've been wanting to review, but until I can find the cord I won't bother writing up reviews anytime soon. (What's the point of a review w/out pics right?! LOL)....That being said while I'll continue to answer your guys' questions I won't have any new reviews anytime soon...(Unless someone knows of a way to post pictures on blogger via an iPhone 4s or iOS 6 aside from emailing them to myself and saving and uploading). Hope all is well in the universe...and remember....THE DOCTOR ALWAYS LIES (LOL Sorry, felt an urge to put that in there)Gregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622693326651830971.post-14885990586252280192012-08-29T20:38:00.003-07:002012-08-29T20:38:24.522-07:00Any recommendations??<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Hey there, hope everyone is having a wonderful evening. Been crazy busy and while I've been checking up on a few blogs here and there I haven't posted anything in a long time. Part of which is simply because I haven't been wearing nay new lenses as of late. That aside I have been really into my Kindle Fire lately..I know most folks seem to be reading on their Nooks or iPads but since I have neither I do use my Kindle. I love the portability of my ereader as well as it's web related functionality as well. It's small but not so small I feel I would break it like my old e-reader, light weight and easy for me to transport. Also great for the commute to and from work. I have been itching for some new reads lately? Simply wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Any good reads others have been enjoying out there? Have a great one out there!
Enjoying my first full weekend off in 3 months. Re uploading some pics after my laptop decided to have a nervous breakdown (Probably exhaustion or something like that :p). Look forward to posting again very soon (I feel like I always say that!) Recently I have made a decision I have been contemplating for awhile now...I have decided to quit smoking :( It's for the best! So here's to that being successful! Enjoy your weekend everyone! And a Happy Early Mothers Day to those who it applies to out there! And to those who it doesn't..It's only Friday you still got plenty of time to go grab Mom something nice ;)Gregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622693326651830971.post-13042857008451216162012-03-08T22:08:00.000-08:002012-03-08T22:08:02.257-08:00Phone Review: iPhone 3GS Unlocked (Apple Direct) on T-Mobile USASorry I have not updated in a bit. Had some personal stuff w/friends & family go on lately that just kinda had me down and not in the mood to blog or anything of that nature.

I'm back with a different kind of review.

As the title says it's a phone. Yes it's not the newest iPhone model and that is for a reason. I didn't want to purchase an iPhone and have to unlock it/pay to unlock it myself, or have it jail broken, I have wanted one for some time. To be honest I have waited this long to get one because of my carrier....I have used T-Mobile USA since it was under Voicestream wireless where I live and my sidek!ck didn't have a colored screen (yes THAT long).. I get pretty much the same quality service as Verizon,Sprint, and AT&T customers do coverage wise, and sometimes better with T-Mobile so I didn't want to switch...That and I'd ahve to pay to switch 3 lines...That is neither here nor there so let's jump into the review :)

Quick Pic:

As the title specifies I have the iPhone 3GS 8GB in Black.

I do love it thus far. For me personally I love many Apple products...and yes unfortunatly I am one of those people who tends to turn around and upgrade it everytime Apple "improves" it.....

As far as functionality goes it's great! There wasn't much to get used to as I've always had an iPod touch as my mp3 player, and used them all the time. The battery life is decent. I can go a whole day without charging it until I get home. The sound during calls is clear. Actually the clearest of any phone I've had to date to be honest. I also like the resolution of the screen (tbh though I do think imho even the 3rd generation iPod Touch had a better screen resolution reguardless of specs). I also like the ease of the itunes store and the app market. It has simplified my life as I no longer have to bring my iPod AND my phone...They're the same device. (Personallly reguardless of what phone I've previously had, if it had an mp3 player, it was not the best...and I won't even go into the video player....)

This feels like a ramble so I'll go into some like's and dislikes of it:

Likes:
Ease of use>If you have an iPod Touch or have had one in the past, you'll be able to use it out the box.

Background Applications:Unlike many phones you don't have to go back to the home screen or jump menu,, you can click the navigation button and your most recently used apps show up at the bottom so you can easily go from one application to another.

Lock Screen:The lock screen is great. Even with your phone locked you can navigate through your music you're currently playing. You can also select your camera from your lock screen. Thsi is great if you want/need to take a picture quickly. You don't have to unlock your phone, go to the home screen/sort through screens/menus, locate your camera and wait for it to load. Just click your home screen while your phone is locked, and select the camera.

Navigation Bar: This is imho similar to the notification bar on most/all android phones. However it is a little different. At the top it does display the weather(in a week view and current). It also gives you the option to clear certain notifications. You can remove 1,2, or a few and keep others, versus deleting them all at once.

Messages: I LOVE the messaging on the iPhone. Personally I like the keypad layout. I have big hands and I find on a touch screen the spacing of the letters is perfect for me. I also like the fact that it DOESN'T have swipe.....Nothing more annoying than trying to type on a screen and it starts creating words for you. Another great feature is the fact that even when the screen is locked, if you have a message (or facebook update, etc.) you can slide across the screen while the phone is locked, and it will open up to the message. Very convenient.

Freezing/Locking Up: A great thing is I haven't experienced any freezing/locking up of this phone. With my 3 previous phones (My Touch 3G, Samsung Galaxy S 3G, Samsung Sidekick 4G) ALL of them REPEATEDLY froze. At least once a day I would have to manually remove my battery and restart my phone. That is a huge inconvenience I have YET to experience with my iPhone 3GS.

Wireless Syncing: I LOVE the fact that as long as itunes is open on my laptop my iPhone will sync. It's so much easier than grabbing a usb cord, hooking my phone up to my laptop, mounting my phone, opening the memory card/phone, and manually adding, removing, and switching/saving things around.

Dislikes:

Screen: When I say screen I don't mean the resolution of the screen, rather, the movement. I will say 1 thing Android phones have is the layout. The icon's aren't as easy to move around on the phone itself. (You can move them around when your phone is synced with itunes, but that can be bothersome). This may seem trivial but I also don't like the fact that the wallpaper is so...stationary. On Android phones when you change screens, you see more of the wallpaper. This is particularly good when you've taken a picture in portrait. As you change screens you can see more of the wallpaper.

Voice: The Voice function is a good idea, but imho it doesn't work as good as Google Talk on the Android. I am a fast talker and have a nasalated accent, so OFTEN it completly mis interprets what I say. **This IS biased as it's functionality is complelty dependant on how well you enunciate (sp??) and clearly speak your words, and may work well for most others**

Material/Finish: I will be honest, I have NO IDEA what this phone is made of. It looks sleek and shiny. That being stated I don't like the feel of the finish. It is very smooth and I feel that without a protective case it could be very easily damaged/scratched.

Ambiant Sensor:I do feel that the ambiant sensor is not as good as it could be. I often use my bluetooth and reguardless of what settings I use, after a quick moment my screen goes completly black. While using the phone in a standard handset fashion that's fine. If it's not near my face it's for a reason and should remain lit. While I'm sure it serves some purpose such as battery preservation it's a setting I wish could be changed, or easily adjusted by the user.

MMS: While I can SEND mms messages to ANY phone, I seem to only be able to receive mms messages from other iPhones. Even this is a hit/miss.

RINGDROID: While the APP market offers many great apps/games/etc for free, reguardless of what I have tried (Free and Paid) I can't seem to find an app that allows me to use a song in my library and make it a ringtone/notification tone. Android phones do have a leg up on that as not only is it an option, it seems to come standard on EVERY Android phone nowadays reguardless of the wireless carrier, and the manufacturer of the phone. RINGDROID I will miss you dearly :(

There is a hit and miss with me on this and that is the WEB functionality. While I did purchase it unlocked from Apple I can use it fine with no need to tweak or maniuplate the phones hardware/firmware/os simply by inserting my sim card it is disappointing that it only works on my carriers EDGE frequency. that being said, on the rare occasion it's on EDGE I personally don't notice a drastic difference in speed/download when comparing it to friends/co workers of mine who have iPhones on other networks and get 3G service. TBH I have wifi at my house, and my job. Most places have it no adays, and even public transportation where I live has it. While it would be nice it's not a deal breaker for me.

Overall I am satisfied with the phone. I enjoy using it and am glad I purchased it. If I had one complaint with Apple it would be the price. Yes I did buy it unlocked directly from Apple because my carrier doesn't sell/distribute/carry the phone at this time. Let's be realistic though, while it is an iPhone, it's not the newest or most current. There have been 2 iPhones since it's release, and it costs $375.00 BEFORE taxes and shipping. (They do ship for free standard due to the cost of the iPhone, but I personally paid $10.00 extra for 2 day express shipping). I also don't like the fact that simply because it's unlocked and not manufactured for any specific carrier I couldn't get it locally. While they iPhones they sell through Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T are available at MANY Apple retail stores, any unlocked/non carrier specific iPhones reguardless of make/model are ONLY available for purchase directly through the Apple website. If you don't mind the cost and are looking for a more cost effective version of the iPhone, or are a T-Mobile USA customer I do highly recommend it.

Hopefully this ramble of a review will be of help to some of you guys out there! I'm gonna finish updating my itunes and finish my Taco Bell. It's early as hell in the morning here and I have to be up for work in less than an hour!

(And if anyone has the iPhone 4S would you recommend it? I am debating getting one in white later in the spring with a higher GB capacity but want to know if it's significatnly better than the 3GS or the 4 for that matter)
I have not had a chance to take pics or post what I wanted too...That and when I've gotten off of work I just had other stuff I wanted to do while I had the opportunity to do so. I haven't really been wearing/trying any new lenses as of lately. There are a few circle lenses I am debating from as well as a few commercial lenses I haven't worn in awhile I am debating repurchasing. As of recent weeks past however I have been rewearing some lenses I've purchased after going a long time without wearing them. Mainly I've been wearing them to make room for newer lenses I intend on purchasing. One of those lenses is FreshLook Colorblends Green. I'll spare you from word vomit momentarily and show you the pictures.

(Please excuse the quality of the pics as I'm just figuring out how to take detailed shot's without flash with it.)

They are comfortable. Not because of their fit as my eyes naturally have an 8.3 base curve. More so because my eyes are used to this brand o_O?? I digress. I think they look okay. As far as green lenses go I still don't truly care for them (Adore Bi Tone Yellow being the exception because that lens is FLAWLESS!!!). I also like the natural, slight enlargement the limbal ring gives me. That being said I do think the blending in person is nice. I really wish they would change the name of this lens though. Yes the base color is green. However the beige/yellow starburst and charcoal limbal ring even on the darkest eyes creates a more hazel effect. Ultimatly these come down to a few pros and cons for me..

PROS:
Easily attainable (FreshLook is EVERYWHERE afterall)
Comfortable once worn enough (After about a week unnoticable)
Natural (The blending in my experience is good in person)
Limbal Ring (It sit's outside my iris but is opaque enough to enlarge my eyes slightly, giving them a more noticable appearence)

CONS:
Easily attainable (Who hasn't purchased these at one point? I believe most people have owned this lens)
Standard/Median fit (While an 8,6 base curve is average many lens wearers would benefit from another size)
Blending (While they blend nicely, I think a more muted deeper green starburst would be better/more green)
Limbal Ring Color (While the limbal ring is nice, I think a slightly more jewel toned but natural limbal ring would create a more noticable, natural result)

Overall I feel this is a safe lens. Cheap. Comfortable. Easily Attainable. Neutral enough tone/shade to work with multiple ethnicities/features.

I would recommend this lens for someone who want's a natural hazel/green shade, and is looking for an inexpensive option. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who want's a natural, but vibrant and completly green lens. Hope this review helps!
Enjoy and be safe!Gregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622693326651830971.post-21184033700640993372011-11-17T16:02:00.000-08:002011-11-17T16:02:24.261-08:00Sorry :(So sorry I have not been updating in over a month. I did have some reviews in the works.....Unfortunatly my laptop crashed and I lost my pics. In retrospect I fortunatly for my own sanity started most of the reviews and saved them. I just have to retake the pictures and edit/add them and post them up. Yay for time consumption (Cos we all havve SOOOO much time on our hands :(( ). Well here's to hoping everyone else is having a wonderful week!Gregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622693326651830971.post-38282783891717192882011-10-05T19:22:00.000-07:002011-10-05T19:22:57.721-07:00Howdy ThereJust saying howdy! Working on some reviews now so hopefully I will have them up soon! I honestly need to get better at cropping and marking my pictures. Seriously...On my laptop it's quicker in the actions itself, but not as familiar a process. On my pc it takes way longer, but the steps themselves are simpler...Well I am going to go back to reading the book I'm currently in. Hope everyone has a great "humpday" and is looking forward to a great weekend!Gregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622693326651830971.post-49321073593716856892011-09-17T16:15:00.000-07:002011-09-17T16:15:04.272-07:00FreshLook Colorblends Blue...I generally wear very vibrant lenses. Fluid colors, defined bold limbal rings, insanely bright tones. I personally love the look of vibrant, fluid, almost electric pale blue eyes. I also love the added touch of a bold, strong limbal ring that's noticable as I have small eyes naturally and no limbal ring whatsoever. Lately though I've been wanting something more "ordinary". While I'm at work I feel that without my everyday same lenses (which rotate between Elegance Light Blue and Natural Touch Baby Blue"I don't look put together. On my time off when I'm running errands or lounging aroud I feel they can sometimes be "too much" if that makes sense. I prefer more "subtle" lenses for those days. Problem is those lenses have been dwindling from my supply. I've also been missing FreshLook lately! Random cos It's the first lens I started wearing forever ago. Even more random is that I've been itching for regular FreshLook Colorblends in Blue.

Needless to say I went to the eye doctors and baught some (amongst a few other colors). Thought I'd share some pics of an overworn lens ;)

They're no super fancy. They don't offer insane enlargement. In person they're not super bright. They are a very natural medium blue. They do offer a natural enlargement. They compliment my features nicely without being to attention grabbing.

Overall I like them. No frills, good comfort, and great visual clarity. Occasionally they do slide because of their base curve, but they also settle eventually. Not drying and great for long hours of wear. I recommend them for anyone who want's to try a blue but hasn't before. They're not to bright, not to dark. Subtle, yet noticable. A great way to have "blue eyes" without changing your eye color so drastically that they scream "Oh (insert name) has REALLY blue eyes today. Hmmmm...."
Their concept is similar to Acuvue Define lenses. A one day disposable lens designed to enhance and enlarge your eyes without changing their color. Like Acuvue Define they are also available exclusively in Asia as they are intended to compete with circle lenses in the Asian cosmetic lens market. Unlike Acuvue Define they only come in one pattern/style. I was able to purchase a box from http://www.softlenseye.com/

Overall I like them. They blend well with my eyes. While the most noticable portion of the pattern is the solid limbal ring (which is actually more of a very deep hued purple than a charcoal or dark brown), there is actually a pattern of fine brown "lines" made of fine dots that allows the pattern to further blend into the iris. The lenses are super comfortable and the visual clarity is excellent. This is extremly important as I wear perscription lenses. Despite their base curve they also settled onto my eyes nicely. The pattern barely overlaps my iris and most of it actually sits on my sclera. Due to the deep purple pigment however it appears as more of a deep brown limbal ring added to my eyes.

The main complication I experienced with these was actually in receiving them. I didn't expect them to ship right away. I also didn't expect SoftLensEye to wait almost 3 weeks after I PLACED my order before they actually shipped them. After sending 2 emails I was finally able to confirm that my perscription was out of stock. While I didn't mind that as it's happened with other sites before, I would have expected a courtesy email to let me know they didn't have it available in my powers and there would be a delay. That would have personally gave me piece of mind knowing my order was still being processed and also given me the option to cancel my order if I didn't feel like waiting 3 weeks for themto receive them BEFORE shipping them to me.

Overall I am satisfied with the lenses and glad I was able to find a site that would ship them to the US and charge a reasonable price for them anyway. I paid $13.50 USD for the lenses and about $5.00 USD for their delivery (give or take). My perscription being out of stock aside I did find their customer sevice very friendly. Once they did receive my lenses they notified me promptly and my lenses took 1 week to arrive to the US. Given Monday was a holiday I was very pleased with that.

I do recommend them for anyone who want's a slight enlargement of their eyes and a subtle added touch of definition without wearing a completly opaque lens. I also recommend them to anyone who want's naturally bigger, wider, brighter eyes without commiting to a monthly/annual disposable lens and the cleaning and maitenance that comes with it.
It has not so much to do with time as waiting... I ordered some lenses from overseas and they just recently shipped. They're a lens I've been looking forward to trying for sometime now. I have received a few other lenses recently but am not sure if I want to review them here or not. They're just repurchases of lenses I've worn in the past. Most just regular lenses you can get from the eye doctors office. I will probably do an update on 1 pair in particular as it's by far my favorite pair of circle lenses EVER!! Well my laptop is about to die and I have to get up in 5 hours for work. Sorry for the blaaaaah update...Gregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622693326651830971.post-89926726511334212732011-08-19T18:56:00.001-07:002011-08-19T18:56:12.422-07:00Random picture updateIt had come to my attention some of my picture links are no longer showing pictures. Finally got around to taking some pics of my Adore Bi Tone Aqua. I don't wear them very much. It has nothing to do with their overall tone or blending. In person they blend nicely. They are however bi toned. Due to the natural golden/orange tones my eyes have they look a bit off combination wise at times. The color is gorgeous, but I feel they are a slightly better blending of FreshLook Colorblends Sterling Gray but lacking in that they need a starburst to blend the base/main tone of the lens seamlessy into the wearers eyes if they're not blue or grey or some combination of the two colors. I've received plenty of compliments while wearing them and like my Bi Tone Yellows have not had them pecked as lenses, but rather a "unique/exotic" eye color combination. I personally feel a bit self concious when wearing these. PErhaps it's the pattern, or perhaps it's because I am very nit picky about my blue shades. Either way I do like them but I personally feel I would be more satisfied if I had purchased these in the Tri Tone pattern. Enough of the jabbering... Here's the pics....

I LOVE their overall effect in the full face shots. While the blending is still very nice, even beyond what I experience pattern wise with other disposable lenses their's something about that up close....demarcation for lack of a better word, that bothers me. Other than that they're super comfortable and the color I achieved I find gorgeous. I do like how these look even in the mirror better than the close ups with my camera. (It's a GM 12.2 megapixel Q1250 whatever all that means). I would recommend them but with the warning that these probably will look best on extremly light, or extremly dark eyes.. I think Tri Tone Aqua and Bi Tone Grey and Hazel will be my next tests in the water with this brand. Hope everyone has a good day! Now I'm off to re watch last nights episode of True Blood! (IS anyone else obsessed with that show?)

I love the overall effect. They do actually look better in person than on camera. The result is big, wide, vibrant honey eyes that are cool at the same time. Instead of the aggressivly orange eyes most honey lenses tend to be, these are fluid almost. Soft and ash/beige toned while vibrant and defining at the same time. I have owned these before but I believe I had a defect pair because they irritated my eyes the moment I put them in and didn't center. These lenses fit fine. I paid $19.90 USD for these. Can't give an exact on shipping as I ordered more than one pair of lenses. I do love these and would recommend them to anyone interested in big, noticable, vibrant, fluid brown eyes.
Lastly a side shot for fun.

Most of these pics were taken simply using the light in the room with no flash. It went off on a few but for the most part it's simply how the lenses appear. Overall I think they create a unique effect. The lens itself fits my eyes well. They do take a moment to center due to their base curve but once they do they look great. The black limbal pattern starts right where my iris ends. It results in a black ring defining my natural eye color. Up close in can look a little wierd. At normal talking distance it simply enlarges my eyes and defines them. I do like the results I achieved but I feel that this Accent style is more suited towards Med-Dark brown eyes. I have a feeling it would create a wide eyed, youthful effect on them. I think the Vivid style would havve suited my eyes more simply due to it's color. Overall I do like them all the same. They're super comfortable and the visual clarity is great! I've had them in for a few hours now and still can't feel them on my eyes. I would have to say their only downfall for me is the fact that they are daily disposable. They are hard enough to get if you don't live in Asia. Top that to the fact that you only get 30 lenses in a box, it works out to a little over 2 weeks worth of daily wear. I have a feeling that I could have probably found an annual circle lens that gives a similar result for the same cost, if not less than what I've seen these for. There may be some sites that sell these more reasonable so I will update on that if I do come across them. Hope everyone has a great week and if you're in the US have a safe and wonderful holiday!
I broke down and got the Adore Bi Tone lenses in Yellow and Aqua pictured in their color chart below:
This review specifically is for my Yellows. In general I always hope for the best results with semi opaque lenses in this particular shade. Unfortunatly brands like Solotica have let me down in that department. Fortunatly after getting these on a whim Adore has renewed my faith in this shade. So here go the pics!

Overall they are extremly comfortable. I can wear them for 10-12 hours with no discomfort or redness and seldomly have to rewet them. They last for 3 months with consecutive use (or daily wear). Most of all they're super realistic. In person they look ridiculously natural. Even in photos they look more natural than most lenses. Personally I prefer blue lenses period for my daily wear. These lenses look so gorgeous and natural that I find myself reaching for these 2-3 times a week. They can be subtle in most settings and really vibrant in others. Due to their semi opaque pattern they react to light tonewise just as natural eyes do. They also seem to blend seamlessly.

They currently run $39.44 USD plus shipping at http://www.lensmarketplace.com/ I can't remember my overall total as I ordered a few pairs of lenses from them. They did take about 2.5/3 weeks to arrive. I was aware they would take a little longer as my lenses are prescription and one of the other pairs of lenses I ordered was out of stock.

If asked I would highly recommend these to anyone who wants a natural, realistic lens. I do also stress they keep in mind that like all semi opaque lenses do create a natural result. That being said the result and tone achieved is completly dependant on your natural eye color and your features. Reguardless I would still highly recommend these!

If you would like to see a review on the Grey's just let me know!
I haven't really seen any pics of them (I'll be honest I wasn't really searching for them either) I went ahead and ordered them. I got them from http://www.honeycolor.com/ an d they arrived in about 10 days give or take. They were $23.30 USD plus shipping. Their specifications are as follows:

Base Curve: 8.6
Diameter: 14.88
Usage: Yearly Replacement
Parameters: Plano to -8.50
Brand: Super Pinky

I find them very comfortable. I was able to wear them for 12 hours and only had to rewet them once. They did slide around a little bit at first due to their base curve. After a few hours of my eyes adjusting to the lenses they centered just fine. They have good visual clarity and their parameter is spot on. I do think their blending could be slightly better. Despite the pupil hole size it works well overall. These are def. a natural lens despite their enlarging effect. I do get a bit of leakage but it's hardly noticable. Pics were taken indoors with delayed flash and artificial light.
I am SORRY I have not updated in so long. As usual I have been working like crazy. I Digress. This post is in reguards to when good lenses get canned...i.e. discontinued. I have been wearing lenses for years and I never really had a favorite. Just went to the eye doctors, ordered my FreshLook Colors Blue and called it a day. That is until I saw these... Natural Touch. They have a long history which is for another time. Once I got these they became my be all. Reguardless of what lenses I baught or tried they were my everyday, natural, believable lens. I've owned 4 different colors but these two have remained my "everyday" shades.
These are my everyday lens. I've been pretty much wearing this as my everyday lens for over 5 years now. It's a shame they've been discontinued.

Natural Touch Sophisticated Blue:
These are my other everyday lens. They aren't as vibrant as Baby Blue. Truth be told they're def. more natural overall. I do prefer the Baby Blue but I wear these when I still want that natural blue eyed look but don't want the attention of baby blue, electric eyes.

I would love to continue to rack up on these but I have spent a bit on as many pairs as my eye doctors office has had. If you can get ahold of these do grab a pair. Pictures can't do them justice.
It's taking a little longer than I planned. Ontop of finishing my Christmas shopping (YAY) I baught a little gift for myself. Just grabbed my laptop and as soon as I get it all figured out updating this will be ALOT easier! I probably sound crazy, but as addicted as I am to my net access I HATE sittingat a desk. I love being comfortable and my laptop thusfar seems to be able to help me do that! Here's wishing everyone a safe and wonderful holiday season!Gregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622693326651830971.post-36988978784507436442010-12-17T14:47:00.000-08:002010-12-17T14:47:38.168-08:00Semi Update and a few random factsI have been a little absent due to lack of images to go with planned reviews. I have finally figured outthe basics of my new camera and have taken pictures. Once I upload and crop them I will have some pic heavy reviews! I have made a promise to myself to update at least once a week!

Onto randomness now...

I find it perplexing. I don't really have many followers at all. Several times a week I do get emails from people who have read my blog. They've either come across it from my YouTube channel or other forums. I don't mind answering their emails if I can in anyway. I do wonder though.....Why not just subscribe? To me it would make more sense to subscribe and ask the question on my blog....Different strokes for different folks I guess?? So I figured since some of the questions are very repetitive I would simply post them in this entry so as not to keep answering the same inquiries.

WHY DON'T YOU TALK IN YOUR YOUTUBE VIDEOS?
To keep it simple I don't get paid. Don't get me wrong. YouTube is a great community fo the most part. I simply post videos showing how lenses look. I don't do make up reviews, electronics reviews or anything of that sort. I can write my reviews here and that's good enough. Since it's not a job I see no need to do anymore than that. The videos are just something I put up in my spare time when the spirit moves me.

WHY DO YOU ONLY POST FACE SHOTS? ARE YOU EMBERASSED BECAUSE YOU ARE SHORT AND STOCKY?
This one makes me chuckle a bit. First because while I am bigger I am not that much overweight. Second because many who ask me this assume I'm short! In reality I don't post anything but face shots because that's all I can. I don't own a dsl/dsr or whatever those fancy cameras are called nor do I own a tri pod. I also don't have a full length mirror tall enough. With no shoes on I am 6'4 1/2" tall. Yep I'm not only not short I'm also above average height.

WHAT ETHNICIY ARE YOU?
I don't really see the relevance or reasoning behind this question. I can only assume it's out of mere quriosity. I often get some people assuming I am either Latin American, Hawaiian, or some mix of Filipino. I am none of the above. Not that I really see what it matters but I am African American and Irish. That's it. No more no less.

I LIKE YOUR EYELASHES WHAT MASCARA DO YOU USE?
I sorta get annoyed by this one. In a few posts I mention the fact that some subjects such as make up I don't talk on because I don't wear it. To answer nothing. The thickness, curve, and length of my lashes is natural.

I READ YOUR BLOG AND YOU SEEM TO ALWAYS UPDATE THAT YOU WILL UPDATE SOON BUT YOU'VE BEEN BUSY WORKING.HOW MUCH CAN SOMEONE AS YOUNG AS YOU WORK?
Well I will start of by saying what I said earlier, if you read my blog often and email me feel free to SUBSCRIBE/FOLLOW my blog! That being said I work anywhere from 40-50 hours a week. That's not counting going to and from work. And I worm so much because I have bills to pay. I'm not sure how "young" people perceive me to be. In reality I'm going on 27. Like most adult members of society who contribute I work a full time job. Up until this summer/fall I was actually also working a part time job for 3 years after working my full-time job.

WHERE DO YOU GET ALL OF YOUR CONTACTS FROM AND CAN I GE SOME THERE?
I get my contacts from various places. Most frequently from JCPenny Optical (FYI it is also referred to as US Vision in some states). I occasionally order them online and from overseas. When I see a new brand I sometimes get them at a Beauty Supply Store as well. I always list where I get my lenses from. If ever unsure check the description.

Hopefully this helps those who follow me but don't subscribe (And if that's you feel free to do so now!)and any of my followers who may have been wondering anything! Anymore questions feel free to ask me in the comments!Gregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5622693326651830971.post-91280516173057797432010-12-12T19:10:00.000-08:002010-12-12T19:10:29.892-08:00Sorry for the lack of updatesI sincerely apologize for my lack of updating. I have been working like crazy due to the holiday season. To top that off my camera has broken...It took me a while to find a new one I like and to decide on it. I have. As soon as I finish figuring out how to work it I will be updating my blog again!Gregghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672019781545307321noreply@blogger.com0
